Open-faced Avocado Sandwich

First of all, I'd like to thank the feedfeed for featuring my sandwich. Do check their awesome food website!

Sometimes we just crave for a simple and wholesome meal after weekend feasting. I personally like whipping up my own meals when i’m at home, because by doing so, I get to know what exactly goes into my food!

Here in Singapore, foods served outside are mostly laden with salt and whatnots (think MSG!). If you might not already know, MSG is the abbreviation for Monosodium Glutamate - an artificial food addictive used to enhance flavors. How do I know, you’d ask? Well, taste bud don't lie. Foods that are salt-laden and/or enhanced with addictive and MSG are often make one feel thirsty and lethargic after consuming. Nevertheless, there still are healthier-choice foods available too. You just have to select wisely!

Alright, lets cut to the chase. Inspired by the mouth-watering pictures of avocado sandwiches on Instagram, I’ve decided to have a hand in making one too, and have since then been addicted to it.

Because this is such a flexible and wholesome recipe, you could literally switch any of the ingredients up, if you’d like!

Ingredients:

2 sliced of rye bread

half an avocado

5 to 6 dried cranberries

2 big leaves of kale

1 tablespoon flaxseed meal

a handful of cashew nuts

Seasoning:
a dash of salt and pepper to taste

1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar (replaceable with half a lemon juice)

1 teaspoon nutritional yeast

You could replace rye bread with wholegrain bread; switch kale for baby spinach, or use hemp seeds in place of flaxseed meal if you crave for it.

Stay Healthy, peeps.

Weekly iPhone Snaps

Happy Mid Week, folks! I'm just glad that there is this one very precious day off from school. It's the only day that I am able to take it slow and gather jumbled thoughts over the week. Trust me, the grass isn't any greener in an arts school, heh.

Alas, the first photo was snapped while waiting for class to start after my thesis consultation. Talk about unusually long breaks between classes (not to my liking, though). In short, the mobile phone camera of decent quality is something that I can't thank enough. And this brings me to the next point: the i-snap label a.k.a iPhone snaps HAHAHA.

Survive the week well, guys!

TEKKA MORNING

Hi there, blogosphere. This marks my very first post here and I am excited to share photo diary on this tiny corner on the web! Well, firstly I am just a serious amateur who loves photography so please be forgiving if you guys comes across any "photography/techinical" mistakes! Of course, it'd be lovely to receive any constructive advices! :)

Tekka Market: This is one of the oldest traditional wet market found in Singapore. Built in 1915, Tekka Food Centre (a part of Tekka Centre) offers abundance of good ole traditional Chinese, Malay, and Indian food at very affordable prices. Talk about the laid back and slow mornings gathering thoughts over a warm cup of Chai Masala tea and Thosai! Nevertheless, woah its already October. Have a great month ahead, peeps!
